The Story Behind HapiYaki
Born from a passion for real food and an unshakeable belief that nourishing yourself should feel like a joy and that everyone deserves to feel this good.
It Started with a Promise to Myself
I spent my thirties raising our children and running a catering business - which I loved - but somewhere along the way, I lost touch with myself. By the time I came up for air, I was overweight, low on energy, and quietly unhappy when I looked in the mirror. As I approached my 40th birthday, I made a promise to myself to change that.
Like so many people, I’d tried the fad diets. I’d been through the cycles. My mindset wasn’t right and nothing was sticking. Then a friend recommended a book - and one day, while working, I pressed play on the audiobook. My life changed that day.
As a self confessed foodie with a background in hospitality, I’d always had a deep love for great food. With my new understanding of how food worked, I started developing whole-food recipes, cutting out refined carbs and sugar - and soon, the weight started falling off. But it wasnt’t just the weight. I felt back in control. I was eating the best food I’d ever eaten, and with that came a new confidence, a new focus, and a return of the energy I thought I’d lost for good.
My eureka moment came when I realised - if this worked for me, it could work for so many others. And that realisation became HapiYaki.

From the Kitchen Table to the Clinic
HapiYaki started as a wellness lifestyle programme built around real food, Mediterranean principles, and the power of building new habits you actually enjoy. It grew into a recipe collection, a programme guide, a community - and a genuine way of life for the people who found it.
Then GLP-1 medications changed everything.
As Ozempic, Mounjaro, and other GLP-1 medications began transforming how the world approached weight loss, I saw something that troubled me - a gap. Thousands of people were starting these medications with enormous hope and very little food guidance. The clinical support was there. The nutritional support wasn’t.
That’s when HapiYaki found it’s new purpose.
A Golden Window of Opportunity
Making the choice to take a GLP-1 medication opens a golden window of opportunity. The appetite changes. The cravings quieten. And for the first time, many people feel genuinely ready to build a new relationship with food.
But that window needs to be used well.
HapiYaki exists to make sure it is. Built on everything I’d learned - the recipes, the habits, the mindset work, the Mediterranean whole food principles - I rebuilt HapiYaki specifically for people on GLP-1 medications. Not as a clinical tool. As a warm, practical, human companion for the journey.

I don’t meet people in the clinic. I meet them in the kitchen, where real change actually happens.
Everything in HapiYaki comes from a deep love of food, years of experience in the kitchen, and an absolute conviction that nourishing yourself well should feel like a joy, not a punishment.
